We are incredibly proud to be members of the Penllergaer Primary School Senedd. Our School Senedd is made up of pupils who work together to make a real difference to our school community. We meet every Friday to share ideas, solve problems, celebrate successes and help make PPS the best it can be!
You may already have seen some of our work in school newsletters and on Instagram. Last year was a fantastic year for the School Senedd. We organised a wonderful Christmas Sing-along for elderly members of our community, worked with a Welsh artist to create bright and colourful murals in our hall, and teamed up with our Literacy Leaders to help organise World Book Day and Diversity Day.
This year, we are excited to build on these successes and take on an even bigger role within our school. As well as leading projects and listening to pupil voice, we will be working alongside school leaders and governors to help improve teaching and learning across the school. We will become "Learning Detectives", gathering the views of pupils and helping to monitor how well our school is achieving its goals.

We will promote the Welsh language throughout our school and encourage everyone to use their Welsh in lessons, around the school and in the community.

We will confidently use our knowledge, understanding and skills in new situations across all areas of learning.
⭐ We Will Be in School Every Day, On Time and Ready to Do Our Best Learning
We will encourage excellent attendance and help everyone understand why being in school every day matters.
📚 Reading for Pleasure, Reading to Learn, Achieving Our Best
We will celebrate reading, recommend books to others and help make reading an enjoyable part of school life.
The School Senedd is determined to make a difference. Throughout the year, we will listen to pupils, share ideas, work with staff and governors, and help our school achieve these important priorities. We can't wait to share our journey with you!

🗣️ Pupil Voice – Ready to Make a Difference! 🌟
Today was a very special and exciting day at PPS as our newly elected Pupil Voice Groups for 2026–2027 were proudly introduced to the rest of the school! 👏💚
Our Pupil Voice representatives have a very important job ahead of them. They will be sharing ideas, listening to their classmates and working together to help make our lovely school even better!
Following assembly, our groups met for the first time and we had another important job to do – elect our School Senedd! Our Senedd will work closely with Mrs Burns throughout the year, and there is already lots to get started on!
Mrs Burns met with the Senedd to discuss the different roles, including Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Secretary and Senedd Representatives. The pupils worked brilliantly together, discussing the different responsibilities and deciding who would be best suited to each role. What fantastic teamwork and democracy in action! 🗳️
Now that everyone knows their role, our Senedd is ready and raring to go! This year, they will also be taking on an exciting new responsibility as our Learning Detectives 🔎📚 – more information about this very special role will be coming soon!
We can't wait for our first official Senedd meeting and, most importantly, to discover what Mrs Burns' first challenge will be! 👀
