On Tuesday 3rd March, we were delighted to welcome Mrs Jones and Mr Evans from the Welsh Department at the Local Authority. Their visit formed part of our reassessment for the prestigious Siarter Iaith Aur (Gold Charter Award). During the morning, they spent time with our pupils and staff, observing Welsh being used naturally and confidently throughout the school. We are incredibly proud to share their wonderful feedback: “Longyfarchiadau enfawr to Penllergaer Primary School, who continue not only to achieve but to sustain and grow their outstanding Siarter Iaith Aur standards. The school’s Welsh ethos is thriving, vibrant and deeply embedded across the whole community. The school exemplifies a strong Welsh ethos, with vibrant displays, pupil‐led initiatives, and community engagement. Pupils and staff demonstrate a consistently positive attitude towards the Welsh language, embracing it as a natural part of daily life—from assemblies and classroom routines to enrichment activities and international performances. The confident, spontaneous use of Welsh across the curriculum and beyond reflects a whole‐school commitment to bilingualism and Welsh identity.” We are immensely proud of this recognition and of our whole school community—pupils, staff, and families—who continue to champion the Welsh language every day.
